The St. John Baptist Church Music Ministry is a vital and integral component of the church. The ministry works collaborative with the pastor in making the worship experience spiritual, inviting, and fulfilling.

The Youth Choir, Mass Choir, Male Chorus, Praise and Worship Team, and Liturgical Dance. Members are always encouraged to become a part of the Music Ministry to exhibit their musical skills and abilities.

Cynthia Thompson, has been the Praise Dance Ministry choreographer/instructor for over 15 years. The purpose of the dance ministry is to teach the youth how to worship through dance. Dance is learned by meditation, building relationships with God, devotional reading, and prayer.  I am grateful to be able to share my gift of dance. 

”Let them praise his name in the dance:” Psalms 149:3

Praise dance is a form of liturgical dance which individuals expresses in worship used to give thanks, praise, and adoration to God. It is also a way to tell a story or bring a song to life.

Praise dance teaches the young in spirit how to worship, daily meditation, and uplifting Jesus.

The dance we do (although same attire, the same music, and same movements) it’s ministered and received differently by the each person in the congregation. 

Exodus‬ ‭15‬:‭20‬-21 ‭KJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ teaches us to dance and rejoice in the Lord through any circumstances using different techniques and instruments.

We use props such as flags and streamers. They can declare a time of the battle in spiritual warfare, God’s love, His grace, holiness, and power.
